Making charges, explained honestly

Making charges are the craftsmanship cost of turning raw gold into jewellery — and the least understood line on a jewellery bill. At Aurora they are always itemized, never hidden in the rate.

How they're quoted

• Percentage of metal value — most common; machine-made chains start around 6-8%, handcrafted temple work runs 15-25%.
• Per gram — flat ₹ per gram, common for coins and bars (2-4%).

Why they differ between pieces

A plain bangle is largely machine-formed. A nakashi necklace passes through a karigar's hands for weeks. You are paying for time and skill, which is why we show the making charge for every piece on its product page — compare freely.
